National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment of Lagos State University’s Open and Distance Learning and Research Institute (ODLRI).
The Research Institute was established to replace the rested LASU External System in order to provide opportunity for numerous knowledge seekers who are unable to get admissions into regular degree programmes.
Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor of the state owned institution, Professor Olanrewaju Fagbohun launched ODRLRI to augument the regular learning programmes of the school.
Fagbohun later promised to use the programme to set new global standard in university education.
ODLRI will be headed by former executive secretary of NUC, Prof. Peter Okebukola.
The new institute tends to focus on critical thinking, entrepreneurship and digital literacy.
It will accommodate 30% on-campus instruction and 70% technological based instructions.
