Muhammadu Buhari is a Nigerian politician and retired military officer who has served as the President of Nigeria since May 29, 2015. He was born on December 17, 1942, in Daura, Katsina State, Nigeria.
Buhari had a distinguished military career before venturing into politics. He joined the Nigerian Army in 1961 and rose through the ranks, eventually attaining the rank of Major General. Buhari served in various military leadership positions and played a significant role in Nigeria’s history.
In 1983, Buhari led a successful military coup that overthrew the democratically elected government of President Shehu Shagari. Buhari won the election, defeating the incumbent president, Goodluck Jonathan, and became the President of Nigeria.
