The National APC Supporters Centre has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rethink his appointment to accommodate the Gbagyi people in his administration
Speaking during a media briefing in Abuja, Honourable Dorothy Akenova who is a patron of the National APC Supporters Centre lamented that Gbagyi people have not been so far treated fairly in government
She added that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should depart from the line of the past governments by appointing a Gbagyi native to be a minister of FCT.
She said that the Gbagyi people who have hosted the nation’s capital should be given a level of reward, adding that their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2023 General election was massive.
Let me convey the festering feelings of the over 10 million Gbagyi people of whom I am one of their political leaders who despite being diehard supporters of our ruling APC, have not received any national recognition in terms of national appointments Akenova said.
Recall that recently, at the instance of the Gbagyi nation, we held a solidarity rally in support of our esteemed President and Commander in Chief, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, an event which underscored our unflinching support for both the party and the President.
The Gbagyi nation is however quite unhappy with the recurrent state of affairs where we have been consistently and conspicuously sidelined in appointments including the current ones which comprise largely the pillars of government.
Much worse feelers from the Gbagyi nation appear to indicate that we, the leaders who are members of the political class are being settled one way or the other to abandon our collective strategic interests which explains why we are convening today’s event to convince them to the contrary.
We, the Gbagyi people are generally known for being accommodating and peace-loving and we are of the firm belief that we have contributed greatly to the development of Nigeria at great cost to ourselves without commensurate rewards.
The Gbagyi nation and its people however note that while the seat of Federal Government is firmly lodged in our territory, the office of the Minister Federal Capital Territory or that of the junior Minister has never gone to a Gbagyi indigene. It is therefore quite important that a Gbagyi indigene be allotted one of the two offices in recognition of our role and sacrifices in hosting the seat of government, she lamented.
Research has it that, Gbagyi people are over 15 million in population cutting across four states and FCT.
