The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike has said being a Christian or a Muslim is not a requirement as far as being an FCT minister is concerned.
According to Wike who spoke in an interview with Channels Television on 30th August 2023, said, anyone from the north, south, East or West of Nigeria can be made FCT minister.
In his words on Channels television…
“FCT is the federal capital Territory, There’s no law that says you must be from this religion before you occupy this seat, there’s no law that says you must come from this area before being made the FCT minister. You see, we can’t continue to have it this way, we have to believe that FCT is for all of us. Whether you are from the North, South, East or West, you must have that sense of belonging. And that is why the cabinet we are bringing it, Nigeria is well represented and that’s how it’s supposed to be. The work we are going to do here is not for Christians alone, it’s not for Muslims alone too.” He said.
