STRAIGHTENING TRADITIONAL INSTITUTIONS IN ABUJA

The FCT mandate secretary, area council service secretariat, Lawrence Bitrus Garki, wants the strengthening of traditional institutions in the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory to accelerate meaningful development at the grassroots.

Bitrus said this during a familiarisation visit to the palace of Ona of Abaji and Chairman of chiefs, Abuja, on Thursday in Abaji.

The FCT mandate secretary area Council service secretariat said the Tinubu administration through the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has approved projects in the six area councils, including strengthening traditional institutions for meaningful development in the Federal Capital Territory.

The traditional ruler of Abaji and Chairman of Chiefs, Abuja, HRH. Adamu Baba Yunusa said the appointment of an indigenous person in the FCT administration will go a long way in connecting people at the grassroots to the government for accelerated Socio-Cultural development.

Yunusa therefore called on the federal government to consider approving the second tier of government in the FCT to address some of the many challenges confronting the Territory, he also called on the minister of the FCT to consider commissioning the FCT University of Science and Technology Abaji as this will encourage education in the territory
